Friendly Falls Restaurant Review – Wears Valley Tennessee

October 14, 2013 By Angie Trusty

Friendly Falls

Friendly Falls

On the way to Diane and Larry’s cabin in Wears Valley, I saw a hand painted sign “worth the stop” on the side of the Friendly Falls restaurant.   As I walked in, I noticed the other signs stating “seat yourself”, “order inside”, “ please don’t feed our happy chickens” – all with a smiley face.  Vintage lunch boxes full of condiment packages are on the tables.  Tucked inside a stand at the entrance is a basket of blankets available for a picnic by the falls as well as a stack of gossip magazines.   Tina, the owner, was happy we all grabbed a magazine to read while waiting for our lunch.

Jerry and I split the McClarens  Wings and the Smothered Fries.  The wings are bacon wrapped chicken tenders, with a sliver of jalapeno tucked inside, deep fried and served with homemade wing sauce.  These are served with celery and carrot sticks and blue cheese dressing.  The menu said they are “as good as they sound”.  Yep!  The fries and hand cut, smothered with melted cheddar cheese, bacon, and baked beans.  For the perfect, crazy good bite, make sure you eat these with a fork and stab some beans on the fork tines along with the fries.

After spending a long day at the outlet mall, stop-and- go traffic in Pigeon Forge, Friendly Falls was a breath of fresh air – literally.  Crisp, fresh air, the relaxing sounds and view of the falls, and laid back atmosphere was absolutely perfect!    Even if it’s not on your way, it’s worth the 10 minute drive from Pigeon Forge.  It’s definitely “worth the stop”.  Thanks Uncle Larry for the recommendation!
