  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook Time: 12-15 minutes
  • Total Time: 14-17 minutes
  • Yield: 48 Chips 1x
  • Category: Appetizer
  • Method: Bake
  • Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Corn Tortillas (I prefer 5 1/2″)
  • Olive Oil Spray
  • 1–2 teaspoons salt (or seasoning of choice)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350.

Cut Tortillas: Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangles (quarters, sixths, or eighths – I prefer eighths)

Spray and Season: Arrange the tortilla triangles in a single layer on the baking sheet. Spray the top side with olive oil spray. Sprinkle with salt or your preferred seasoning.

Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, rotating baking sheet halfway through, until golden and crispy. Keep and eye on them as they can burn quickly.

Cool and Serve: Let the chips cool for a few minutes to crisp up fully. Serve with salsa, guacamole, your favorite dip, or enjoy plain.

Notes

One baking sheet will hold about 48 chips. I suggest making multiple batches.

Seasoning Ideas:

Here are some delicious seasoning ideas to sprinkle on your oven-baked tortilla chips before baking:

  • Sea salt or kosher salt: Enhances the natural flavor of the chips.
  • Chili powder: Adds a mild heat and a touch of smokiness.Cumin and paprika: Provides an earthy and slightly smoky flavor profile.
  • Garlic powder or garlic salt: Delivers a savory kick.Lime zest and sea salt: Offers a tangy twist when combined.
  • Cinnamon and sugar: Perfect for a sweet version.
  • Cayenne pepper: Adds heat for those who love spicy flavors.
  • Onion powder: Gives a subtle, savory depth.
  • Parmesan cheese: A cheesy touch with grated Parmesan.
  • Taco seasoning: A classic mix of Mexican spices, store-bought or homemade.
  • Smoked paprika: Rich, smoky flavor without the heat.
  • Everything bagel seasoning: A savory crunch with sesame, poppy seeds, garlic, onion, and salt.
  • Ranch seasoning: Dry ranch mix for a herby, tangy flavor.
  • Herbs de Provence or Italian seasoning: A Mediterranean twist.

Storage Tips:

  • Store in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag at room temperature.
  • Add a paper towel to the container to absorb moisture and keep the chips crisp.
  • Consume within 2–3 days for the best flavor and texture.
  • Avoid refrigeration, as it can make the chips lose their crispness.
